Investment casting, or lost wax casting, refers to the formation of ceramic around the wax patterns to create a multi or single part mold to receive molten metal. This process utilizes an expendable injection molded wax pattern process to achieve complex forms with exceptional surface qualities. Because the investment castings can achieve exceptional dimension accuracy for both small and large casting parts, the investment casting is also called precision casting.
To create a mold, a wax pattern, or cluster of patterns, is dipped into ceramic material several times to build a thick shell. De-wax process is then followed by the shell dry process. The wax-less ceramic shell is then produced. Molten metal is then poured into the ceramic shell cavities or cluster, and once solid and cooled, the ceramic shell is broken off to reveal the final cast metal object.
Silica sol casting process is the main steel investment casting process of RMC investment casting foundry. We have been developing new technology of adhesive material to achieve much more economical and effective adhesive material for investment casting industry.
It is a overwhelming trend that Silica sol casting process replaces the rough inferior water glass process in whole precision casting industry, especially for stainless steel casting and alloy steel casting. Besides the innovated molding material, the silica sol casting process has also being innovated to much steadier and less heat expanding.
RMC manufactures precision cast metal parts that consistently meet or exceed customer expectations. Lost wax investment casting allows us to produce metal parts as small as tens of grams and as large as tens of kilograms, in a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. We could use a wide range of materials for investment casting process. Here in the following are the main alloys we can use for your usage. Of course, we can also cast more metal if you have special need.

The lost wax casting process produces near-net-shape precision metal parts that often require little or no additional machining. The resulting finish is also much better than what is achievable through other processes. The strength and durability of the casting parts make themselves ideal for high wear-resistance applications requiring millions of cycles.
Whether we're casting small metal parts in carbon steel or large, intricate shapes in specialty non-ferrous alloys, RMC can deliver precision metal cast parts that perfectly match your designs and usage. We offer design assistance, as needed, to help improve both your part's function and its manufacturability. From the simplest shape to the most complex geometry, we can turn your designs into reality.
